Apps

An app gives your site an app. Your users sign in with their email and a one-time code, then keep their own records there: expenses with a receipt photo, requests, bookings, a stamp card, lessons they have finished. Only they and you can see them. Your AI builds the pages; Page Lemon runs the sign-in, the records and the files.

What your AI will ask you

  • What users add: for example an expense with a photo, a request, or a check-in. Your AI can start from a ready-made app, such as an expense log, a client portal, an online course, a paid community, a habit tracker, a request tracker or a café stamp card.
  • Who may join: only people you invite (the usual choice), anyone who signs up, or anyone who asks and waits for your yes.
  • Free or paid: free, or a price a month or a year.
  • Who to invite first: the email address each person will sign in with.
  • Details for your privacy notice: your business name and address, who sees the entries, and how long you keep them.

What to have ready

  • A kept site in your Page Lemon account, and to be signed in as its owner. You switch the app on yourself, on a Page Lemon page; your AI can't do that step.
  • For paid memberships: a Stripe account connected in Page Lemon. In the Dashboard open Plan & billing and press Connect payouts; on a workspace site, the Workspace Owner presses Connect payouts on the workspace's page. See Payments. Never type bank details or keys into a chat.
  • Your privacy notice details (above). The ready-made apps include a privacy page with blanks for them.
  • Your users' email addresses, if you invite people.

What happens

  1. Your AI tells you what it will build: the app pages (private to each user, under /app), that your home page stays public, who may join, any price, and that users sign in with a code sent to their email.
  2. It sets up the lists, the plans and the pages, and gives you a link.
  3. You open the link, sign in to Page Lemon, confirm it's you with a code we email you, confirm that your users are adults, that you collect no banned data, that you have a privacy notice and how long you keep entries, and switch the app on. Nothing is on until you do.
  4. Your AI shows you the addresses it will invite. Each person gets an invitation email, and only after your yes.
  5. It tests the app as a test user, who never counts towards your numbers, and tells you the result before it says the app is ready.

What you can add

  • App lists: each kind of record (expenses, requests, check-ins) is a list with fields: text, a longer text, a number, a date, a choice or a photo. Each user sees only their own entries, and entries you give them.
  • Requests to join: people ask to join and wait. They see nothing until you answer. You approve or decline in the Dashboard (the Apps tab) or ask your AI. They are emailed either way.
  • Profile fields: up to 10 questions users answer when they join, which they can change on their account page. You see them in the Dashboard. Other users never see a profile, except a display name you choose.
  • Your columns: on every entry you can set a status (such as New, In progress, Done), write a reply the user sees, and keep a private note only you see.
  • Groups and comments: put users in groups, such as a client company or a class, so they share entries, with the people you choose as leads. Each entry can have a comment thread.
  • Totals, filters and search: each user's page can show their totals, counts and streaks, such as this month's spend, and let them filter and search their own entries.
  • Rules by plan: for example, free users add 10 entries a month and paying users add as many as they like.
  • Email to your users: one plain-text email to everyone, or to the users of one plan. Your AI drafts it; you read it as users will see it and send it yourself. Each user gets their own copy with an unsubscribe link.
  • Scan a user: users show a code on their phone and your staff scan it with their own phone's camera. Use it for stamp cards, check-ins, class attendance or rewards. Staff see the user's display name and tap Confirm; nothing is added until they do, and Undo works for 10 seconds. You see every scan, and who made it, in the Dashboard. You choose who may scan, and a person can have that and nothing else.
  • AI features: users get a summary, a chat about their own entries, or an entry sorted by AI, on your own AI key. See AI in your app.
  • Webhooks: send new entries, joins and comments to Zapier, Make or your own server. See App webhooks.
  • Paid memberships: users pay a monthly or yearly plan on your own Stripe account, and renewals, failed payments and cancellations open and close their access by themselves. See Payments.
  • Memberships bought in your mobile app: App Store and Google Play purchases, with or without RevenueCat, open the same membership. See Selling subscriptions in your app.
  • Your AI reading entries: only if you allow it. In the Dashboard, after confirming it's you with a code, you choose which lists your own AI may read and answer, and confirm that your privacy notice tells users. Every read is logged, and your AI never changes or deletes what a user wrote.

Plans

Extra users: on every paid plan you can let people join past your plan's number, for a small fee per extra user a month (See pricing), counted at the month's highest number over it. Turn on Allow extra users in the Dashboard (Apps, then Settings); only you, or on a workspace its Workspace Owner, can, after seeing the price. Each month's extra users are billed to your plan's card on their own invoice early the next month, in your currency. If you take the 14-day full refund, they aren't charged. If you move to a plan with a smaller number, it turns off until you turn it on again. While it's off, new people can't join once you reach your number; people already in keep their access.

Test it with your AI

Before you invite anyone, ask your AI to try the app on a staging copy as a test user and check what each kind of user can see.

Using it, changing it

  • Add or remove people: ask your AI, or use the Dashboard. Removing someone needs your approval on a link; their access ends then, and a paid membership is cancelled at the end of its period.
  • Change a list or a price: ask your AI. Values in a field you remove stay stored but are no longer shown; users who already pay keep their price.
  • Read entries, export them and answer them: in the Dashboard, Apps tab. You can download every entry with its files at any time.
  • Who can do what: the people you add to your site can be given View users, Edit users, Manage the AI key or Scan users, one at a time. By default they can only change the site.
  • How it is going: ask your AI, or look at the Dashboard: users, people invited, requests waiting, and the last 7 days of sign-ins, joins and comments.

Good to know

  • Users don't need a Page Lemon account, and never see one. Each user can leave and delete their data from their account page. For users you remove, you choose how long their data is kept.
  • Your AI can't read users' entries unless you allow it (above). Without that it sees counts only.
  • At your number of users new people can't join ("This site isn't taking new users right now"); users already in keep their access. If a paid account drops to Free with more users than Free allows, the app pauses until you remove users or choose a paid plan; every user's entries are kept.
  • What an app can't hold: health, mood or therapy records; accounts for children (users must be 18 or older); and card, bank account or ID numbers. Your AI will say no to these and offer something else. Users pay through Stripe, which holds their card details. See the Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Your privacy notice must tell users what you collect, who sees it and how long you keep it. Your AI can draft it with you.
  • Apple Wallet and Google Wallet cards are not available yet. Users open their card on your site in their phone's browser.
  • A site that only needs to be private, with everyone seeing the same pages, doesn't need an app: see Private sites.
