AI in your app
Add AI to your app with your own AI key: users ask for a summary of their entries, such as "what did I spend this month?", or the AI sorts each new entry into a category.

Before you add a key, you can try AI in your app free for 3 days or 10 requests, whichever comes first, on Page Lemon's key, on any plan. The 3 days start with your first request, and both limits are for your account, across all your sites. The trial runs on your site's pagelemon.dev address and its preview, not on a custom domain. Only you (signed in to your app) and the test users you preview with can use it; your visitors and users can't. The Dashboard (Apps → AI) shows how many requests are left. When the trial ends, add your own OpenRouter key; that needs a paid plan: See pricing.
What to have ready
- An AI key from OpenRouter, OpenAI or Anthropic: use the one you already have an account with. You pay your provider directly; Page Lemon doesn't sell or bill AI usage.
- A spending limit at your provider. OpenRouter can set one on the key itself; OpenAI and Anthropic set one for the whole account. Your provider's own dashboard shows what you're actually charged; Page Lemon's budget is an estimate.
What happens
- Your AI sets up the summary or the categories, and puts the button or the form on your app's pages.
- You add your key in the Dashboard (the site's Apps tab → AI), after confirming it's you with a code we email you. Never paste a key into a chat; if you did, make a new one at your provider and delete the old one.
- You can set a monthly budget. You get an email at 80%, and AI pauses at 100% until you raise it.
What the AI can read
- Only what the person using it could already read: a user's own entries (and their group's, where you share entries in groups), and lists you've made public. Never other users' entries, emails, files or your private notes.
- It answers in plain text marked "AI answer, may be wrong", with no links, and nothing is stored.
- Users can also chat with it about their entries. The chat stays in their browser tab only and clears itself when what they're allowed to see changes. A user can stop an answer, copy it or try again. No images or voice.
Good to know
- How it connects: Page Lemon sends each question straight to your provider with its own code, with no other service in between. The AI can't search the web or use tools, and a request is never retried on its own.
- Limits: each user can ask 10 times an hour and 20 times a day, and your site 500 times a day. You can lower these, add a monthly number per user, and give users on one of your app's paid memberships more (up to 30 an hour and 100 a day), in the Dashboard (Apps → AI). Each user gets one answer at a time.
- Usage: the Dashboard (Apps → AI) shows requests, tokens, estimated spend, errors and timings by day, prompt, model, plan or user, and downloads them as a CSV file. Questions and answers are never stored.
- Your own monitoring tool: you can have Page Lemon send a record of each request to a tool such as Langfuse, from the Dashboard: the time, model, tokens, estimated cost, outcome and a code standing for the user, never the question or the answer. Mention the tool in your privacy notice.
- Using OpenRouter? Its Broadcast feature can send a record of each request to a monitoring tool you choose. Turn on Privacy Mode for that tool, so it gets only the numbers (time, model, cost), not your users' entries or the answers.
Tell your users in your privacy notice that you use an AI assistant; your AI can give you the wording.
