The house
Two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a stove that heats the room
Curlew Cottage is one of four terraced cottages, with all rooms on the ground floor. It sleeps four people and one dog. Here is what is in each room, what is provided, and how the cottage works for people with access needs.
Rooms and beds
Where everyone sleeps
- Bedroom 1, double. A double bed 1.35 m wide, with a window onto the marsh, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a reading chair. Bedside lamps, not ceiling lights.
- Bedroom 2, twin. Two single beds, 90 cm wide each. Good for two adults or two children. The window faces the lane.
- Living room and kitchen. Open plan, with a sofa that seats three, a woodburner, and a dining table for four under the window.
- Bathroom. A bath with a shower over it, a toilet, a basin and a heated towel rail. There is a grab rail beside the toilet.
Outside
An enclosed garden, with room for a dog to run
The fence runs all the way round, and the gate latches from inside. The lawn is grass, not gravel, and the table seats four for breakfast or a long evening.
The back path is gravel, and one section is grass. See Access below for details.
Floor plan
The whole cottage is on one floor
There are no stairs. Use the plan to see where the doors are, and where the woodburner and dog bed sit. It is not to scale.
Swipe across the plan to see every room.
Kitchen
Cook a real dinner
- Electric oven, induction hob, and a dishwasher.
- Fridge-freezer with a freezer compartment, and a kettle and toaster.
- A cafetière, a chopping board, and the pans for four people.
- Salt, pepper, oil, tea and coffee are stocked on arrival. There is no microwave, so use the oven.
What is provided
Everything for a week, except food
- Bed linen and towels for every guest. Linen is changed on stays of seven nights or more.
- Logs and firelighters for the woodburner, and kindling under the sink.
- A washing machine, an airer by the stove, a hairdryer and a first-aid kit.
- Fibre broadband. The signal is strong in the living room and bedroom 1, and weaker in bedroom 2.
- For dogs: a bed, two bowls and a towel, kept in the hall cupboard.
- No cot. Tell us if you need a travel cot, and we will try to find one for your stay.
Access
Access, in honest detail
We have not had a formal access audit. These are the facts as they are now. Email us about any need, and we will say whether the cottage works for it.
Parking and the path
One car space on the gravel, about 20 m from the front door. The gravel is loose in places and is not level. There is no ramp.
Getting in
The front door has two steps up from the lane, with a handrail on the left. The back door, from the garden, is step-free into the kitchen, with a 15 mm threshold lip. The garden path is gravel, and one section is grass.
Inside
Ground floor only, with no stairs. Interior doorways are 76 cm wide and the hall is 90 cm wide. There is room to turn a wheelchair in the living room, but not in the kitchen.
Bathroom
The shower is over the bath. There is no separate shower or level-access entry. There is a grab rail beside the toilet, and none in the shower.
Beds and light
Both bedrooms have bedside lamps, and the living room has two floor lamps and a switch by the door.
