Programmes

Four programmes. Two missed targets.

Each programme has a target set in April 2025 and reported against in March 2026. Where we missed, the table and the notes say so.

The bike workshop runs in the old yard every Saturday. Most repairs are done while people wait.

Bike repair

We fixed 1,640 bikes. Most were donated and rebuilt by volunteers, then given to young people who had no way to get to college or work. Waiting time is now under 20 minutes.

Reading club

Fifteen sessions a week in three libraries, run by volunteers trained for two evenings. Attendance rose through the winter, when the club moved to after-school hours.

What did not work

The mentoring pilot and the kitchen target.

Dunmoor mentoring, closed in month eight

We assumed schools would send pupils who wanted help. In practice they sent the pupils with the least time, and 40% did not come to a first session. Mentors spent months chasing referrals. We closed the pilot in February and moved mentoring into school timetables, where attendance is 78%.

Kitchen meals, 210 against 300

Transport to the first kitchen was the main barrier. We opened the second kitchen on the bus route in January, and meals in March reached 268 a week. We will not hit 300 this year and have reset the target to 260 for 2026–27.
