Work / 02

Three studies
in clarity.

Student and self-initiated projects. The work is mine; the services are proposals. Each starts with a small problem worth paying attention to.

Graduation project / Public services

The Reading
Room.

Feb–May 2026

Library reservation interface for The Reading Room
Prototype / Finding, reserving and collecting a book
My role
Research, service mapping, interaction design

The problem

Readers could find a book, but not tell when or where to collect a reservation.

The response

I mapped the service and prototyped a receipt with a collection point, next step and expiry date.

The outcome

In moderated tests, readers explained the next step without prompting. I changed wording they mistook for delivery.

Prototype evidence; not a live service.

Self-initiated

Fare
Notes.

June–July 2026

My role
Content design, interface design, prototyping

The problem

Choosing a bus ticket can mean decoding names before you know the price.

The outcome

A trip-led comparison. Early feedback led me to show return validity beside the price rather than behind a disclosure.

Independent concept; fares are illustrative.

Bus fare comparison interface for Fare Notes
Prototype / A return trip, explained before payment

One decision

Put the restriction next to the promise. If the ticket says “return”, the return time belongs there too.

Student collaboration / Information design

Fenlow Post.

Oct–Dec 2025

Community noticeboard publication for Fenlow Post
Publication / A shared typographic system for local notices
My role
Editorial structure, typography, accessible web layout
Collaborator
Mina Teague — writing and interviews

The problem

Dates, locations and access information were easy to miss in local notices.

The outcome

A print and web system with consistent practical details. Testing contributed notices led us to add a plain-language access line.

Student publication; not commissioned client work.
