Homes found, and how they went

Every story here is from a family who said yes to a visit, a home check and a few hard weeks of settling in.

Toffee: three homes, then one that stuck

Toffee came to us thin and wary after three moves in one year. Our foster carer kept the room quiet and the food the same, and he chose his own chair on day ten.

He went home in March to Dana, who had never kept a cat before. Dana still sends a photo of the chair every month.

“He picked us, not the other way round. We are so glad we let him.”

Thistle and Fudge: a pair who needed each other

The two rabbits arrived together after their owner moved abroad. They would not eat apart, so we kept them as a bonded pair and found a family with a shed and room to run.

Their new home has a path of hay they tunnel under every evening. Owen, who fostered them, still visits with carrots.

“Nobody told us rabbits could be this funny. Two of them, and both want the same blanket.”

Rusty: a big dog and a small garden

Rusty needed a garden and a family who could walk him twice a day. He was at the yard for four months before the right home came along, and he has been a lot of fun ever since.

His new family joined our dog walking team last spring, so they still see him at the yard.

“He is the size of a sofa and thinks he is a cushion. Best decision we made all year.”
