The Long Tide
A 14-minute film about the Harbour Coop boats, shot over four spring tides in March. Yewande and a crew of two lived on the quay for the week, and most of the film is what they saw from the slipway.
The brief
Make the tide the lead character.
Harbour Coop wanted a film for its members and for the council that funds the slipway. Nobody on the boats wanted a long interview, so the film is built from work: hauling, mending, weighing and the long wait for water.
Yewande planned the shoot around four spring tides. The crew was on the quay before light each day and left when the boats came in, which meant the best material was the least planned.
The interviews run for under four minutes in total.
