About
A volunteer guide to Wealdbury’s independent shops
Shop Wealdbury is the town’s own directory. It helps people find the independent shops and services on the high street, and it helps those businesses get found.
Who runs it
Shop Wealdbury is run by the Wealdbury Traders’ Association with a small team of volunteers. The coordinator is Lorcan Featherstone-Ruiz, who reads the inbox, checks new requests and keeps the listings current.
The team meets at the Old Corn Exchange on Market Row, and drops in on Tuesday mornings, when you can bring a listing request on paper.
How a listing is checked
- We check the business is independent and based in the Wealdbury parish.
- We check the hours, phone number and street address with the owner, by email or by phone.
- We publish the listing and link it to its category and its map address.
- Every March we ask owners to confirm their details. If we cannot reach an owner, the listing stays up until we can.
Free to be listed
Listing costs nothing. The website, the printed town guide and the map are paid for from Traders’ Association membership fees, so no business pays to appear higher up.
For business owners
Run a business here? Ask to be listed
Listing is free for independent shops, cafés, makers and services in the Wealdbury parish. A volunteer checks each request before it goes up.
