Interior design studio, Pellingford

Rooms drenched in colour, ceiling to skirting.

Clemency Ardagh paints a room in one deep colour, walls, ceiling and woodwork, then layers velvet, oak, stone and brass on top until it feels like it was always that way.

  • Claret Cellar

  • Bare Plaster

This autumn's four, from the Ferriby Paint Co. card.

Three rooms, one colour each.

We pick a single colour and commit to it. Then the furniture, fabric and lamps do the talking against it. All rooms →

The material board

Touch it before you buy it.

Every scheme arrives as a board of real offcuts: paint drawn down on card, fabric cut from the bolt, timber oiled the way it will be laid. Hover or tap a sample to see what it is and where it comes from.

How a room comes together

The studio

A coach house full of offcuts.

Clemency Ardagh trained as a scenic painter before she moved into houses, which explains the fondness for deep colour and good lamps. Tobi Wainwright runs the projects and the trades, and is usually the one who answers the phone.

“We asked for cosy and got a room people walk into and go quiet. The red was terrifying for a day, then perfect.”
