# Page Lemon notifications (emails and the app inbox): guide for AI assistants

> For people: https://pagelemon.com/docs/notifications explains this feature in plain words. This page is for AI assistants.

Page Lemon tells people things in two families. **From Page Lemon**: messages about the account, money, access and safety, which can't be turned off (two domain emails can). **From your sites**: what a site's forms, bookings and shop produce (new form replies, bookings, summaries) and site alerts (a site down and back up, a traffic drop), which **each person** chooses for themselves, for every site or one site. Product news is opt-in. Publishing in general: https://pagelemon.com/agents.

Use this when the person says "Stop emailing me every form reply", "Send me bookings once a day", "Only email me about my bakery site", "Email me if my site goes down", "Add my assistant to the booking emails", "Unsubscribe me from Page Lemon emails", "What emails do I get?", "Why did I get a summary email this morning?" or "Why can't I turn off this email?". Setting up a form or booking page itself is https://pagelemon.com/agents/forms and https://pagelemon.com/agents/booking.

## Plans and limits

Site emails a day (the one limit), notification inboxes and how detailed the weekly report (Monday morning) is depend on the plan: https://pagelemon.com/pricing. Free has no forms, so no site emails.

- **Site emails a day** counts, per account and UTC day: alerts to the owner, copies to other inboxes, email-only forms and form thank-you emails to visitors, and the weekly report. Past the number the rest wait and go in one summary the next morning; nothing is lost. Booking emails to customers (confirmation, change, cancel, reminder) and order emails to buyers always go and are not counted. Messages from Page Lemon are never counted.
- Alerts go to the owner's own address; extra inboxes are on every paid plan. Where the plan lacks them the reply says so and gives `pricing_url`: pass it on, don't retry.
- In a workspace each person sets their own: the Workspace Owner gets site emails as they come by default, everyone else in the workspace in the app only until they turn email on, the Site Owner of a workspace site that site's as they come. Form replies, bookings and orders go to the Workspace Owner, Admins and the site's Site Owner; site alerts to everyone in the workspace. The Workspace Owner sets the defaults new people in the workspace start with. Site Developers and Site Viewers on personal plans get no site emails. Extra inboxes and the per-form switches stay the Workspace Owner's.
- Say plan names, never ids.

## What can't be turned off

Both in the app and by email, from `hello@pagelemon.com`: account and security (an AI app connected or turned off, a data export, a deleted account); billing and plan (contract, renewals, trials, failed payments, refunds, plan limits); access and ownership (invites, people joining or leaving, transfers and workspace changes); trust and safety (suspensions and appeals, reports about a site, Page Lemon pausing a site's email); changes to the Terms and the Privacy Policy; and domain alerts (stopped working, and the release warning). The domain "live" email and the day-2 reminder can be turned off (`domain_live`, `domain_reminder`; the account holder or Workspace Owner). Product news is opt-in only (`product_news`), never sent to anyone who didn't say yes. Also never off: the email of a form that keeps no copy (`store: false`), because the email is the only copy. Never delayed: a booking in the next 24 hours.

## Ask the person

Ask in one message, only what applies:

- **Which messages by email?** Form replies, bookings (and orders, when selling is on), site alerts (site down and back up, a traffic drop).
- **For every site, or this one?** (`scope`: `all` or `site`.)
- **How?** As they come (one email each, up to the day's number, then a morning summary), once a day (one summary each morning), or off (nothing by email; everything still waits in the app inbox).
- **Who else should get them?** (where the plan has extra inboxes) the email of each extra person, and which kinds they get.
- **Reports:** the weekly report and the morning summary can be switched off in the app.

## What the person needs ready

- Nothing for the delivery choice.
- For an extra inbox: the person's email address. They will receive a confirmation email and nothing else until they click it, so tell the person to ask them to look for it (spam folder too). Suggest everyone adds `notify@pagelemon.net` (alerts) and `hello@pagelemon.com` (Page Lemon messages) to their contacts so mail doesn't land in spam.

## Set it up

The person's own settings: `save_site_settings` with `site` and `notifications`. It changes only the settings of the person the token belongs to. Needs a token with the `manage` permission and someone who gets that site's emails (the account holder, the Workspace Owner, the site's Site Owner, anyone in the workspace).

```json
{"site": "brave-otter-4821", "notifications": {"forms": "daily", "bookings": {"email": "off"}, "health": "auto", "scope": "all"}}
```

- Categories: `forms`, `bookings`, `orders` (when selling is on), `health` (site alerts: site down and back up, a traffic drop). Each is `auto` (as they come), `daily` (once a day; not for `health`) or `off`, or `{email, in_app}` where `in_app: false` leaves them out of the Notifications count (the site's Lists tab keeps everything).
- `scope`: `all` (every site of that site's account, the default) or `site` (this site only). A token limited to one site can only use `site`.
- `product_news`: `true` or `false` (opt-in; only when the person asks). `domain_live`, `domain_reminder`: `true` or `false` (the account holder or Workspace Owner).
- `count_usage`: `false` is the person's own "Share anonymous usage counts" switch turned off in Settings → Preferences (only when they ask; `true` turns counting back on). Not an email: it rides here as the person's own setting, with any of their sites as `site`. `get_account include: ["notifications"]` reads it.
- Send `notifications` alone. The reply has `notifications` (the settings now) and an `agent_message` saying what comes by email now and what can't be turned off; read it back. It takes effect at once and needs no confirm step.
- To read the settings back: `get_account` with `include: ["notifications"]` (a plain-words `text` per account).

Only the app changes the rest, on the **Notifications** page: a switch for each form, booking page or shop, the morning summary, the weekly report, which kinds each extra inbox gets, and (Workspace Owner) the defaults for the people in the workspace. Every alert also carries a one-click stop link for its own stream.

## Confirm with the person

Before changing settings, say in plain words what will change ("form replies once a day, in one summary email every morning; bookings still one by one"), and whether it covers all their sites or one. Turning something off is safe to undo, but a booking made for the next 24 hours will still email at once. Extra inboxes need their click on the approve link, then the new address's own click.

## Test

## Day to day

- "Why did I get a summary?": the day's number was reached, or delivery is once a day. Everything is in the app under the site → **Lists** ("Form replies and bookings").
- **Site down and back up:** Page Lemon checks each site's address every few minutes. Two failed checks in a row: a "site down" notice and email (to whoever has site alerts on); the first good check: "back up". In Minimal email mode a Free site's down and back-up alerts are in the app only (no email); a site on a paid plan still emails, per each person's settings. If the person changed the site just before, offer `get_site_versions` and `restore_version`. A custom domain that stops working has its own email.
- **Traffic drop:** on plans that keep 35 days of analytics or more, a site that usually gets at least 20 visitors a day and drops to half its usual week or less (the last 7 days against the 4 weeks before, still low over the last 3 days) gets one notice and email (to whoever has site alerts on), at most once a week. To help: `get_analytics` with `compare` (sources, pages), check the site opens (`get_site`), and `get_site_versions` for a recent change; a season or holiday needs nothing.
- "Stop tracking me" or "don't count what I do": set `count_usage: false`. Say that Page Lemon counts how its features are used only as totals with no name, email or site in them, that this stops counting what they do from now on, and that counts made before stay because nothing in them is about them. Visitors of their sites are a different thing (site visitor stats, `get_analytics`). In the app: Settings → Preferences.
- "Unsubscribe me from Page Lemon emails": set `product_news: false`, and explain that messages about the account, billing, access and safety can't be turned off; offer to turn off site emails they don't want instead.
- The inbox always keeps form replies, bookings and orders, whatever the email setting is. Off means no email and no badge, not no record.
- Minimal email mode: Page Lemon starts in a mode that sends fewer optional emails. The weekly report is not emailed, and a few notices (a referral credit voided, "trial ended", a Free site's down and back-up alerts) appear in the app only. Billing, security, access, legal and domain messages are sent in every mode. The person can read the report's content any time in the app.
- Paused mail: if a recipient's mail provider complains or bounces, Page Lemon may pause a site's email and tells the Site Owner (a notice and an email); the messages still arrive in the app inbox.

If the person says emails to one of their addresses stopped (it bounced or marked an email as spam), send them to **Settings** → **Notifications** → **Send there again** in the app: a code goes to that address and typing it back restarts the emails. You can't do this step for them.

## What Page Lemon refuses, and the fix

| Refused | Fix to offer |
|---|---|
| Extra inboxes on a plan without them | The owner's own address is the inbox; the reply names the plan that adds more (`pricing_url`) |
| Turning off a message from Page Lemon (account, security, billing, access, safety, policy, domains) | Not possible; explain why. The person can mute the sites' mail instead |
| Weekly report on Free | It comes with paid plans |
| A token without `manage` | A token with Manage, or the Notifications page in the app |
| A token limited to one site with `scope: "all"` | Use `scope: "site"`, or the Notifications page in the app for every site |
| Someone who doesn't get the site's emails (a Site Developer, a Site Viewer) | Ask the Site Owner or Workspace Owner |
| `daily` for `health` | Site alerts come as they happen or not by email: `auto` or `off` |
| `domain_live` or `domain_reminder` from anyone but the Workspace Owner | Only the Workspace Owner gets domain emails |
| A new inbox past the plan's count | It stays confirmed but gets nothing; the reply says so |
